I'm not very prolific, but I do occasionally write original music.  Here are some of my songs for downloading.

Spring Walk  - *new song

mp3 file (1,745 KB)                         midi file (5 KB)

I came up with this one after listening to a local classical radio station for a while.  A nice, short, breezy piece.  Not strictly classical in style, but more of a blending of classical, modern, and baroque/renaissance sounds.  I like the ancient simplicity of the renaissance sound, and think that this somewhat evokes the same feeling.
Again, this one was written in Cakewalk Home Studio (ver. 2) and optimized for a Casio CTK-650 home keyboard.  The mp3 captures the sound of the Casio.  The sound of the midi file will vary depending upon your General Midi synth or soundcard and may require a bit of tweaking to get it "just right".

Turnaround

mp3 file (3,983 KB)                    midi file (20 KB)

This song was written with Cakewalk Home Studio (ver. 2) on a Casio CTK-650 home keyboard.  For those who are interested, check out the midi file of this song.  It'll sound a little different from the mp3 file, depending upon the synthesizer or sound card you have, but if you have a midi sequencer, you can see the note information and tweak the song to your taste, adjusting volumes, changing instruments, or even re-arranging the song.

Snowfall

    mp3 file (4817 KB)

This song was also written with Cakewalk on the Casio.  And yes, it was snowing when I wrote it.

Easy Street

mp3 file (7813 KB)                     mod file (FastTracker II XM format, 415 KB)            rad file (6 KB)

This song has a more convoluted origin.  I started writing it on the keyboard, but realized its format would make it a good tracker song.  I then did a version of it in RAD, the Reality AdLib tracker, and later created the mod file above in FastTracker 2.08.  Because mod files include instrument samples, the mod file should sound almost exactly the same as the mp3 file.  Mod files can be played with programs like WinAmp, Modplug Player, or other players that support mod files.  As far as I know, Windows Media Player does not support mod files.  Just for the really curious, or those who support old, odd music formats, the RAD file is also available.  The RAD version is slightly different, but it's still the same basic song.  You'll need the RAD Tracker (or there's a couple of other Adlib Trackers that support the rad format, like AMusic or AdTracker).  Note how small the rad file is!

Jon's Theme

    mp3 file (3067 KB)

This song was written for a friend of mine who intended to do a rap over it.  However, he ended up not using it.  But I still like it--it's a minimal, energetic piece that makes novel use of the "blues progression" in the transition.

Bad Example

mod file (FastTracker II XM format, 502 KB)

This one isn't one of my best songs, but it was my first mod file that I created in FastTracker 2, and I created all the samples myself, as well, so it has a certain amount of sentimental value to me.  Again, you'll need a player that supports mod files to hear this song.
